Slinky (3 legged dog) needs ACL surgery!

"Slinky is a true Ring Dog Rescue girl! Rescued 3 and a half years ago, she had collapsed from starvation. Lucky for her she landed in the yard of a friend and true animal lover. We nursed her back to health and she was on her way. Then a lump appeared. Slinky then had surgery to remove cancer from her front leg. We thought she was in the clear, then it came back. Slinky once again endured surgery to remove more cancer. Uh oh, its back again, this time our veterinarian advised that it had webbed thru her leg and we would have to either keep going back in every 6 months or we could remove her leg. So our strong resilient girl went thru an amputation leaving her a tri-pod. Man, she bounced back strong and healthy. For anyone who has ever had the pleasure to meet Slinky there is one thing you will take with you, she is the most active dog ever. Slinky plays hard and loves running (yes running on 3 legs), well this where it gets sticky again.
Our beloved Slink has torn her ACL, she requires a TPLO surgery to repair it. While most dogs that this happens to have sometime, Slinky needs it to come much sooner than later. While she is motoring on 2 (yes 2 legs its quite amazing) the longer she goes the more pressure on her other joints, and the greater chance she may tear the other one. In short Slinky needs our help to raise the much needed funds to repair her ACL. She is the most loving amazing girl, Please won't you help us help her. Her surgery will cost around $3,000 and must be payed in full prior to the surgery. Every penny helps!"

Statement Concerning Local Media Reports of "Pit Bull" Attacks
As you may have heard, over the last week or so, there have been multiple reports via various media outlets of attacks by dogs alleged to be pit bulls on humans and other dogs. Ring Dog Rescue feels it would not be prudent to sit by idly without commenting on the recent state of reports regarding these dogs we seek to protect. As such, what follows are our thoughts on these recent events.
First and foremost, Ring Dog Rescue shares the concern and compassion of the community for the victims of these incidents, both human and canine, some of whom have been severely injured, some of whom have lost their life and some of whom, as a result of these events, undoubtedly will. These events have left indelible scars on both man and dog and we mourn the passing of innocence from such a trusted bond.

Canine Adventure
We wanted to share with our supporters a super service right here in our own area. Canine Adventures offers adventure walks for your dog that are sure to wear him/her out and get them their fill of fun and exercise. Ring Dog Rescue and other local rescues have been partnering with Josh at Canine Adventure for several months now and could not be more pleased at the service he has provided. Josh's dogs are rescues and he donates a portion of his proceeds to rescue groups. In our case, Josh periodically takes foster dogs who need a bit more exercise for long, trail hikes and brings them back tired and happy. It's a great concept partnered with a reliable and very rescue-friendly service that you can proudly support. You can find out more at www.canineadventure.net.
